Mihir Shah, member of National Advisory Council (NAC), the elite group to assist Prime Minister in policy formulation, will be sharing his life experience with the students of Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi (IIM-R) during the TEDx programme of the Business School scheduled on February 2, 2014. Shah is currently the youngest member of the Planning Commission of India.
Apart from Shah, Varad Pande who is Officer on Special Duty to Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh, eminent carnatic music vocalist Vijayalakshmy Subramaniam, villager Popatrao Pawar who transformed his Maharashtra’s backward village into a model village, monk of Ramakrishna Math Swami Sarvapriyananda, social entrepreneur Priya Naik, scholar Emma Dawson Verughese as well as senior corporate individuals Anand Damani and Myshkin Ingawale will also be presenting their inspirational speeches here.
“TEDx is a global foundation devoted to ‘ideas worth spreading’. It is now a platform focused on meaningful change through the power of ideas. Speakers presenting their speeches are basically known to stress the effective ideas which they had already implemented in their lives and had gained success,” said a student of IIM-R. Another student said, “The addition of x in TED means independently organised TED event.”
Few days back, the promotion of this event was done by Queen of Indian Track and Field cum recipients of Padma Shri award 1984 and Arjuna award 1984 PT Usha followed by Padma Shri 2013 awardee wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt at Khelgaon. IIM-R had been hosting this forum based programme since 2012.
Globally acclaimed Indian personalities comprising Jharkhand State Cricket Association President Amitabh Choudhary, Bihar’s 2012 Entrepreneur of the year awardee Manish Kumar, Paralyzed social worker Captain Navin Gulia and nine other popular speakers had shared their experiences in the TEDx 2013. Whereas, in 2012 TEDx Jharkhand’s Padma Shri 2013 recipient mountaineer Premlata Agarwal, Yuwa team mentor Frank Gastler and 10 popular speakers had participated.
Students busy in preparing the framework of this upcoming TEDx mentioned that the talks recorded in TEDx benefit in covering development agenda in Jharkhand. “TEDx is shown across the globe through live-streaming. Also, we promote the event in noted B-Schools and Corporates of India. The theme of this TEDx is titled ‘Beyond Conformity’,” informed official sources of IIM-Ranchi.
