The three-day inspection by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team of Ranchi University (RU) concluded on Wednesday. The team handed over the report to university VC, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Pandey in the presence of varsity officials. The final findings with the grading will be presented within a month after the UGC approval.

Dean Student Welfare, RU, Dr. SC Gupta said that the team was satisfied after assessing the university on different parameters and asked RU officials to focus on up-gradation of library, laboratories and digitalization so that the students and research scholars can get the experience of State of the art learning here.

The NAAC team headed by retired Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Karnataka, Professor IM Pathan appreciated the project work and publications of various departments. However, Pathan after verifying the total number of the teachers lending their service to RU had asked the senior officers of the university to address the staff crunch immediately.

“The university must focus on research projects and appoint professors. Senior professors must motivate young teaching professionals. The amount that is given to toppers as teaching assistance is worth appreciating. After discussing it with the Governor who happens to be the Chancellor of the university has assured that the teaching assistance will be increased from Rs 4000 to Rs 15,000 soon,” said, Pathan.

The peer team member professor SK Tiwari appreciated the total strength of Scheduled Caste (SC), Schedule Tribes (ST) and other backward caste (OBC) students studying at one of the oldest State owned varsities. The team members unanimously applauded the efforts taken up by the university to upgrade tribal language department essential for both conserving the tribal dialects and in imparting education.

“The exit meeting was successful and the team members highlighted on improvement of some basic amenities. The team asked the varsity to get basic facilities like ATMs, canteens, health centers including provision of city buses for the students. The university is serious about it and will address all the need at the earliest,” said, the DSW.
