projects that also includes 3 x 660 MW of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Tandwa of Chatra district in terms of power evacuation.

The meeting headed by JK Tiwari, Additional PCCF, Regional Office, Bhuwaneshwar and AK Mishra, Nodal officer for the SAG, gave the go ahead for the transmission line that required diversion of 37 hectares of forest.

“The DVC (agency erecting the line) had been told to site three alternative routes that can result in minimum number of tree falling. The ROW (right of way) will have to pass through less forested areas and only trimming of trees below the line would be allowed,” said an official present in the meeting.

The accent will now be sent to the MoEF for Stage-I clearance in consultation with the Regional Office. Officials of Energy, Mines and land Revenue were also present in the meeting.

The project to be set up by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will be on a pit-head with environment friendly super-critical technology. The power will be generated by NTPC for about 35 years of plant life, the first project of the power major in Jharkhand.
