Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi today credited the Nobel peace prize to his experiences while working in Jharkhand taking up prominent child rights issues during his early days. “My journey started from Jharkhand and I have observed the pain of people here residing in rural pockets. I would never have got Nobel prize if I had not travelled in buses, motorbikes examining the condition of the interior belts of this tribal State,” he said, addressing a gathering during a seminar on ‘Save Childhood, Save Nation’ here on Tuesday.

Satyarthi urged all the MlAs present on the occasion to adopt one village and transform them into ‘Adarsh Village’ so that children who are the most vulnerable section of the society get an opportunity to flourish and get education for leading a dignified life.

He stressed that all children must have the right and access to free and compulsory education that need to be ensured by all the elected representatives and other government officials. As per the records, nearly 26 crore children across the world are out of school stated Satyarthi.

Satyarthi assured full support to the State government in developing child friendly villages across the State. He also said that his foundation, Kailash Sathyarthi Children’s Foundation will provide capacity building training programme to top officials of the State government that will be beneficial for the officials in understanding the requirement of all those children who have been rescued and needs immediate rehabilitation.

Governor, Draupadi Murmu during the programme urged each individual to stand for child rights. “Only with the support of everyone crime against children can be curbed. Merely imparting education to kids will not address the issues related to child rights but our aim should be to impart quality education among children so that they can stand for their rights,” said the Governor.

In a major attempt to curb the menace of human trafficking, child labour and other crimes related to child abuse soon stringent laws will be formulated to close down all illegal placement agencies, “The State government will soon draft a law to curb all illegal placement agencies functioning across the State,” said CM Raghubar Das while addressing the dignitaries.

In a bid to stop migration, the CM mentioned that the State government has started imparting skill development training among the girls studying in class 9. “There are approximately 18 thousand orphan kids in State. The government is committed to provide support to all orphans and will educate them. Training centers will be opened at Ranchi and Gumla to train children in various traits,” said Das.

Highlighting on various schemes of the State government, the CM said, “Through schemes like ‘Tejaswini’ and programmes like ‘Bal Samagam’, ‘child cabinet’, the government is prominently addressing the issues of children. Attempts are being made to stop migration through training children in various traits falling in the age group 14-15 years.”

Saryu Roy, Minister, Parliamentary Affairs said on the occasion that it is due to the attempts made by Satyarthi now major child rights issues are now being considered seriously by the decision makers.
