Must vote, motivate others too, says V-C

You all are now eligible to vote. If anyone of you has not enrolled his/her name in the voter list first get enrolled and in the forthcoming election must use your right. It is my appeal to you that you must vote and motivate the members of your locality or society to vote because every vote is precious and it will shape the future of the country,” said V-C VBU Surendra Singh Meena in an awareness program organized by NSS in PG Department of Commerce.

V-C said that India is looking to youths and they should recognise their power and capacity. “Since voting is a highly confidential thing so never be afraid that anyone will know whom you have voted. You all are literate citizens of the society and many illiterates still sell their vote for some rupees or bottle of wine. It is your responsibility to motivate them so that they can recognize the power of a vote.”

Dr Sajal Mukherjee of PG Department of Economics said that several reports say that most of the literates specially living in cities do not go to their booths on the day of polling. They escape from voting, it is wrong and it is the responsibility of youths like you to change the mindsets of those who refrain from voting.

Dean and Head Commerce Department Dr. JK Prasad welcomed the guests while NSS Coordinator Nakul Prasad presented vote of thanks. Students Raveena Sainy, Megha Khaitan and others also placed their views in the awareness seminar.
