Murumatu Mushars in Palamu who had grabbed national attention on August 30 following their displacement and demolition of huts by local Muslims, are again in the news for their refusal to accept two decimal of land each for 10 families and one Ambedkar awas worth more than a lakh of rupees.
Sources said on August 30 these Mushars were victims. This November the same Mushars are trying to bend the administration to toe its line. Between the Mushars and the administration are some invisible hands that are fanning the Mushars to decline government offers, said some insiders.
The result of it is a thaw. Palamu administration is ready with a platter of land and house for the Mushars but the Mushars are refusing to accept the offer of the government for their silly demand for resettlement at the same land, said one civil official.
The Palamu administration has outright rejected this demand of the Mushars to resettle at the same plot of land at Murumatu citing a very strong legal reason that the said land belongs to the Muslims and as such there can't be any resettlement there.
DC Palamu Anjaneyulu Dodde said "The land is of the Muslims. They have valid legal documents. Their land deeds are under the final stage of verification and everything there is found lawful and legal."
"How can the administration foist resettlement on some one's legal and valid land? It is out of the question. The Mushars ought to accept our offer for land and shelter. Kundri where they are to resettle is a good location by all standard" added Dodde.
Sources said the Mushars have been fed to claim to resettle only on the same plot of land from where they were driven out. It is everybody's knowledge here as to who is behind the Mushars said sources.
Sources said as the rural civic body election is round the corner some vested interests are working overtime to keep this episode as burning as ever to serve their own political end.
Sources said the Palamu administration has placed the fact before the NHRC and national commission for scheduled castes as well in regard to the attempt to rehabilitate the displaced Mushars and about the genuine titleship of the land of the Muslims at Murumatu explaining administration's firm stand 'no resettlement on anyone's lawful and legal land'.
Kundri where they are to resettle has already people of their clan living there and as such these 10 Mushar families if they get the wisdom to join them at Kundri will find people of their choice around them, said sources.
Sources said these Mushars will find life at Kundri far more easier than Murumatu which for legality is out of bounds for them forever.
A senior leader of a national party refusing to be identified by name and symbol of the party said "The Mushars are being played as pawns. Their lever is in somebody's hands sitting in Ranchi. These poor are not knowing what harm is going to happen to them for their spurning of the government offer of land and house at Kundri."
