Munda lashes out at Govt for poor law & order

Published on:

leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Arjun Munda blamed the Hemant Soren Government for patronising law breakers, mafias and anti-social elements, citing them as reasons behind increasing incidents of crime and illegal activities in the State.

Initiating the special debate on the issue in the House on Monday Munda also raised serious doubts over the intention of the Government.

“The situation of law and order is continuously deteriorating and it has become pathetic in recent times. The House is to look into the actual reasons behind this as we are a democracy and have to assert faith of the people. Being in the Government it is your duty to maintain the credibility,” said the senior BJP leader.

He also questioned the sincerity of the Government in dealing with law and order cases, saying that the Government was not at all concerned about these things and instead busy in their own petty interests.

“If it is not the case then why the Cabinet Ministers got removed after they leveled charges of corruption. It puts a big question mark on the credibility of the Government. The Government instead of replacing them should have probed the matter and brought the fact before the House. All those questions have contributed to the situation we are living in,” said Munda. He cited recent abductions in Sahebganj, fake currency coming from across the broader, illegal trafficking of children, illegal coal trade in Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and other districts, land grab cases in Ranchi to drive home his point and added that number of such incidents showed that the criminals were being provided protection. “Who are theyIJ Who are allowing unabated loot of natural resourcesIJ What are actions taken when your Chief Secretary mentioned about illegal coal trade in RamgarhIJ If the Government does not take notice on such serious issues then what will happen,” he said.

The BJP leader added that daylight crimes even in the Capital city had put serious doubts over the credibility of the administration and termed the situation as “systemic short-circuit” and blamed the JMM-led Government for State of lawlessness amid widespread corruption in police and administration which, he alleged, goes up to top level. In his over an hour speech, Munda also mentioned about recent incident in Chanho and said that the administration had prior information about this.

“Family members of Veer Budhu Bhagat have been attacked and killed. You are not even maintaining constitutional provisions under TAC and tribal sub-plan. Why there is so much of incompetency and why the Government has given such elements a free run,” asked Munda and mentioned these as major factors behind sluggish growth of the State.

Ranchi MlA CP Singh also alleged that SPs of three districts get money from banned TPC and demanded CBI probe into coal trade nexus.
