Multi crore building develops crack, seepage at roof top in MMCH

Published on:

The multi crore worth 100 bed building in the MMCH Daltonganj has developed cracks and seepage, interestingly when rains are too scarce and had there been any heavy rains, the rooftop of this building would have dampened walls and floors.  The rooftop is on the 5th floor.

Further this multi crore building has not yet been handed over by the Jharkhand State Building Construction Corporation to the district health committee.

The cracks and seepage in the roof top and its percolation down has raised questions about its quality and standard.

The seepage is still prominent even in the hot Sun in Daltonganj. Again the balcony of the building has a faulty slope.  Curing is wanting. The seepage is enough for dampening the wall.

On being asked one engineer refusing to be identified said "The fault is more of the masonry, not of the material. The levelling of the roof top has been improper. Had it been proper and adequate levelling this problem would not have arisen."

This engineer further said "There is a definite proportion of slope. Here on the balcony side it is in the reverse order."

However the roof top can be set right with scrapping and anti leak and seepage measures.

Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said that as per previous schedule this building was to be dedicated to the women and children on August 30 but when reports of seepage and crack in the roof top surfaced following an inspection of the building by the person of the rank of the executive engineer, then under order of the DC Shashi Ranjan it was decided to first mend the faulty roof top, seepage, and dampness.

Sources said the DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan had a plan to dedicate this 100 bed building exclusively for women and children with all facilities like OT, NICU etc.

The plan will be extremely beneficial to the women pregnant or otherwise and kids etc.
