After alerted by Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma and DGP DK Pandey for district administrations to be vigilant during Muharram, Ranchi Police will ensure that CCTVs are installed on all the routes covering the processions. Ranchi City SP Aman Kumar said that they will also ensure that the prescribed routes are followed by the procession without any violation.

“The district administration is all prepared for Muharram and deployment of forces for Durga Puja will continue also on Tuesday to maintain peace during Muharram. Extra deployment of forces will be done on some of the sensitive locations identified by the district administration,” said the City SP. In addition to that, proper barricading of those sensitive locations will also be ensured to keep the crowd in control during the procession, he added.

“We will also be vigilant that the procession does not get diverted from the prescribed routes at any cost for which proper barricading has also been done,” said Kumar. Though, CCTV has been installed all over the city for Durga Puja, but we will ensure that all the routes of the procession gets covered so that a close eye could be kept on the movements for better control over the crowd, added the City SP.

“Meanwhile, the organisers have been directed to clear the routes by removing the archways as immersion of idols gets completed by Sunday itself,” said the SP. For smooth movement of procession, it will also be ensured that heavy vehicles parked on its route were removed, he said. A route chart has also been released by the district administration which is to be followed during Moharram.

The Chief Secretary, however, has asked the district administrations to be in contact with Muharram Organizing Committees and ensure that patrolling was done round the clock headed by Magistrates. It has also been directed to the district administrations to keep a close eye on social media to check rumour mongers. The district administration has also been directed to follow the instructions passed by the State Government on September 23.
