On the instructions of Union Health Minister JP Nadda, today BJP MPs visited Jan Aushadhi Kendras, talked to the beneficiaries and got information about the benefits of cheap medicines.

MP Deepak Prakash said that the Modi government is committed to providing cheap health services to the public.

He said that for the last 10 years, cheap medicines are being made available to the public at Jan Aushadhi Kendra. This is an ambitious scheme of the central government. The Prime Minister has declared 7 March as Jan Aushadhi Day.

He said that programs are being organized across the country from 1 to 7 March to make the public aware about Jan Aushadhi. In which MPs, MLAs, public representatives are going to Jan Aushadhi Kendras to make the public aware and give detailed information.

He said that 2047 generic and 300 surgical products are available at Jan Aushadhi Kendras at 70...80% cheaper prices than the medicines of branded companies, which the public should avail.

While observing the Jan Aushadhi Kendra located in RIMS campus, MP Aditya Sahu said that people across the country are becoming increasingly aware of buying medicines from Jan Aushadhi Kendras, because medicines are cheap. Here medicines for sugar, BP, heart disease, kidney etc. are available at cheap prices, which are especially benefiting the poor.

He said that the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras is increasing every year across the country. By February 2025, 15 thousand Jan Aushadhi Kendras have opened across the country, the number of which will increase to 25000 by March 2027.

He said that Jan Aushadhi Kendras have saved the country Rs 30 thousand crore in the last ten years.

Launched in 2008 by the Department of Pharmaceuticals under the Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, PMBJP addresses the issue of expensive branded medicines by offering affordable, generic alternatives.

Its goal is to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to all, especially the economically disadvantaged, through a nationwide network of over 15,000 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJKs).

A key objective of the PMBJP is to educate the public on the affordability and efficacy of generic medicines, countering the common misconception that higher prices equate to better quality.
