Palamau MP VD Ram has given a 15-point charter of demands to Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. Among the 15 points of demands, one is lengthening of railway platform at Japla railway station and at Untari railway station as at these two railway platforms the length of the platform is short to accommodate 24-bogey-long distance express trains like Ranchi Delhi Garib Rath, etc.
The MP told The Pioneer that inadequate length of the platforms at these two railway stations causes hardships to elderly, sick, disabled passengers at these railway stations either in boarding the train or getting down from it. Railway traffic inspector at Daltonganj AK Sinha said the length of platform for 24 bogey train is 625 meters and where this is short a few bogeys of the train are to be out of the platform.
VD Ram has raised a pertinent point when he has pointed out to the railway ministry that Jharkhand is the only State where Ranchi- Delhi Rajdhani express train is not every day in the week. He wants this prestigious train for Delhi to run from Ranchi every day.
Palamau passengers bound to Mumbai have no direct train. The MP has suggested the railway ministry to link one compartment especially for passengers of Palamu to Howrah Mumbai Mail train.
Further if Howrah Shaktipunj express train which passes through Daltonganj every afternoon is extended upto Mumbai then also Palamu’s trade will open up with this finance capital of India. At six places between Garhwa and Windhamganj ( UP) underground railway crossing will be built said Ram.
The railway ministry has sanctioned new railway lines between Gaya Sherghati Rafiganj and Daltonganj informed the MP. Ram said the minister gave him a patient hearing and assured all possible help in betterment of railway services here. He said 156 Km doubling of railway lines between Ramna and Singrouli )have already seen railway traffic survey.
