Moye Heko Simdega, a Mundari phase which translates to I am Simdega, is the latest campaign launched by the Simdega district administration to ensure high voters turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a bid to ensure maximum voting from tribal pockets of the district, Simdega administration has come up with unique awareness initiatives.
Deputy Development Commissioner of the district, Ananya Mittal said, “Under this campaign we have roped in over 700 people including 75 multipurpose workers in medical department, a dedicated teacher in each of the 65 clusters and booth level officers among others to spread awareness at the grassroot level."
The district administration has created a song in Chhotangpuri language which encourages the voters to vote for the democracy and not to let the greed of free money or alcohol blur their decision of voting.
"All schools, including the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas have been asked to make a dance video on this song which will be shared on our social media pages. We are already getting a number of videos. The best performance will also be awarded," Mittal said.
Apart from this, students of class six and seven have been trained to dance on the song which they perform as flash mobs in market places. Teachers are also organizing competitions like Rangoli Making, Rallies and others to spread voting awareness.
In the coming days, students in all government schools will be given a paper slip which will have the message, "I am interested in Voting on May 6' will be written.
"The students have to get it signed by their parents and submit it back at the school. This will lead to awareness in the family of every school going child," DDC said.
