Mosquito menace on the rise in Garhwa

Published on:

Mosquito menace has made the life of the people miserable in the town. Abounding mosquitoes in congested filth localities are posing a serious health hazard besides playing havoc with life of people here.

Many localities situated in the low-lying areas such as Purani Bazaar, Rakki Mohalla, Sanghat Mohalla, Chaudhrana Bazaar, Pipra Kala Mohalla, Pathan Toil, Unchari etc remain perennially waterlogged. Stagnant water not only serves as the breeding ground for mosquitoes, but also emits foul smell.

Moreover, in most houses, toilet wastes are connected to open drains through septic tanks and all other waste water from kitchens and bathrooms are directly discharged into the open drains. In many areas, unauthorised disposal of sewage into the open drains without the septic tanks have also aggravated the problem of pollution because of non-existent drainage system.

In areas like Agrehari Mohalla, Tandwa Mohalla, near Ambalal Petrol pump etc. people have to spend sleepless nights because of the excessive pollution. The life of the inhabitants in Sonpurwa and Unchari areas situated around the ponds and Sarswati river has become miserable as sewage is drained into the ponds and river, which is located just in front of Garhwa bus stand.
