More trouble for ADG Anurag Gupta

Published on:

leader of Opposition and JMM president Hemant Soren has on Sunday approached the SC/ST Police Station to lodge an FIR against ADG (Special Branch) Anurag Gupta, accusing the senior IPS official of racial slur against him.

In his complaint made to the Officer-in-Charge, Soren claimed that Gupta can be heard making racist statements against him in an audio clip supposedly containing telephonic conversation between the ADG and MlA Yogender Sao. In the conversation, the former is trying to influence the latter’s vote in the run-up to the last Rajya Sabha poll in the State.

Soren furnished the audio clip, which was recently released in the media by the JVM, in the FIR. The JMM leader said the statements made by Gupta as “derogatory for the tribal society" and "damaging the image of State administrative system and police force”.

He also blamed Gupta of misusing the power vested upon him to ensure the defeat of tribal candidates in the RS elections. Soren pleaded that case should be formed against Gupta on the basis of IPC Sections 166, 153A and Section 3(1) S,T,U of SC/ST Act. Hemant remained present in the police station till late since the OC, as claimed, was not agreeing to lodge an FIR.
