From January 2017, more beneficiaries will be linked with the PDS at all the 55 wards assured Mayor Asha lakra in a meeting conducted with all the ward councilors on Tuesday. At present, 1.31 lakh beneficiaries are enrolled with the scheme and are availing the benefits in State Capital.
Focusing on the current status of PDS and to ensure the benefits given to all the beneficiaries under the scheme are reaching to the target group or not, Mayor has instructed the officials to address the technical glitches at earliest in every ward. Alongwith Mayor, SOR, SB Mehra interacted with the ward councilor as well to solve their grievances.
“We were constantly getting complains about few technical glitches from different wards. After consulting SOR, SB Mehta, all the ward councilors have been informed to be present on spot to check the grievances of the beneficiaries while the ration (food grains) are being distributed. The ward councilors often complain about the unavailability of food or less amount of grains being supplied to the beneficiary under the plan. Some alternative plan like OTP option etc. will be adopted to tackle this mismanagement,” said, Asha lakra.
“Out of 1.31 lakh card holders, total 97 thousand Ration Cards are being utilized at present.
As per the records available, around 25 thousand beneficiaries card more have been made. All below poverty line (BPl) families left out in the first phase will be linked up with the scheme from January. At all the ward offices, councilors have been instructed to organize workshop to generate OTP. Quality assurance must be ensured so that ration cards are not tampered. Soon the problem faced by people in linking their Aadhar card will also be addressed by the concerned officers,” added lakra.
