The before-time arrival of the monsoon on the western coast in the country has not moved the MET officials here to make a likewise prediction for Jharkhand of any immediate breaking of the rains.
MET Director (Ranchi centre) BK Mondal said on Wednesday that the two-day early arrival of the monsoon in Kerala and some parts of Northeastern States was not at all any testimony of the monsoon touching Jharkhand before June 10, the expected yearly arrival.
“Movement of monsoon is determined by dozens of factors and expecting it to arrive Jharkhand before time only because it has arrived in the country just around 48-56 hours ahead will be unscientific. As per our data interpretation suggests, monsoon is going to hit Jharkhand right on time or even after that. However, as its speed and direction can’t be predictably accurate anytime before 3-4 days, we will be in a position to predict it before or delayed arrival only after June 5-6,” said Mondal.
Notably, the monsoon which was usually expected to touch Kerala coasts on June 1 actually arrived on May 30 this year. Mondal added that there were instances of both early and delayed arrival of monsoon in the country in past. “But it reflected hardly any impact of its arrival in central India or ahead of that. We have witnessed all instances, including monsoon making little late at its arrival in the country but touching Jharkhand on time, to arriving on time in Kerala and getting weakened to make delayed arrival in the State. However, we are watching situation closely,” he said.
At the same time, MET has predicted a pleasant couple of days ahead in the State with maximum temperature of Ranchi and around not exceeding 37 degree Celsius and minimum temperature remaining constant at around 25 degree Celsius for Thursday-Friday. “Cloud movements are going to remain there meanwhile in most parts of the State with winds roaring at a speed of 40-50 Kms per hour at intervals in certain pockets,” MET (Ranchi Centre) predicted.
Mondal added that the monsoon was so far expected to bless the State with average normal rain which could result in healthy crops and water conservation in the season.
