Monsoon bliss throughout Jharkhand

Published on:

Monsoon rain has covered entire Jharkhand, brightening the prospects for a bumper output of kharif crops this season. This is because about 55 per cent of cropped area is dependent on monsoon rains and does not have irrigation support.

Kharif crops are usually sown in the begging of monsoon (end of May and starting of June). G Mohanti a Meteorologist said, “This monsoon has crossed 200 mm of rain in this season. Continuous rain has brought sufficient moisture in the soil for good farming and farmers are expecting better crops this time. 24 lakhs hectares land is there for farming and farmers are very pleased by seeing the monsoon.”
