A money lender Chetlal Saw kept an infant hostage for 10 days as infant's father Chotan Paswan had taken loan of Rs 84,000 from Chetlal and failed to pay him on time. The matter came in the court of deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla, who ordered police to get the infant released as soon as possible.
Chotan, a resident of Muslim Mohalla in Barkagaon block, said he had taken the loan some two years ago when his wife was admitted to hospital for her first delivery. A daily wage labourer Chotan failed to pay this amount to Chetlal despite repeated reminders.
But on her second delivery, Chotan's wife died giving birth to a boy on July 9 this year. Chetlal contacted grief stricken Chotan and again asked for the loan amount.
He convinced Chotan and managed to take away the infant.
When shradh of his wife was over, Chotan went to Chetlal's house asking for his son. But Chetlal refused to return the baby telling him to bring the loan amount first.
After all request failed, Chotan contacted Barkagaon BDO but in vain.
Today he contacted Shukla after which police came in action and trying to get the baby from Chetlal.
Assistant sub inspector Vijay Singh said Chotan will get the baby soon as they had contacted Chetlal. He said Chetlal had agreed to return the infant.
