Police in consultation with law abiding residents are setting up Mohalla Samitis in Palamu. Sources said Mohalla Samiti so set up is to prove its mettle this Ramnavmi .
SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha has asked officials in police stations, out posts, pickets etc to set up Mohalla Samitis comprising men and women who have their say in the mohalla and society to strengthen link of police with public and also for a makeover of image of the police.
State DGP D K Pandey on his frequent visits to Palamu has always stressed on building a bridge between the commoners and the police and this Mohalla Samiti is one such bridge said sources.
Sources said the setting up of Mohalla Samiti days ahead of the Ramnavmi festival in Palamu is being seen as an instrument of strategy to help save the environment from getting any vitiated in this festival as past experiences associated with this festival have more bitterness and less cordiality in the district where senior police officers and citizens had to spend winkless days and nights all for peace to remain unshattered.
Sources said Daltonganj police set up one such Samiti at Abadganj and held parleys with the residents there.
Sources said SP has asked his officers to put on job police official having a somewhat clean image and disposition towards public friendliness and here sources said the count of such officials is not so long.
To a query that in such Samitis participation of women, house wives and school or college going girls be also ensured SP Mahatha said it would be done so.
