The Congress has come down heavily on the BJP Government at the Centre for promoting corporate corruption and took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘na khaunga..na khane dunga’ punch line. The party cited the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report related to Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation to drive home its point.
Addressing a Press conference on Monday, AICC national spokesperson Ajoy Kumar said that the BJP is hindering any fair probe into the matter to cover up quid pro quo.
“The saying of the Prime Minister ‘na khaunga..na khane dunga’ turned out to be another jumla (slogan) by him. The CAG report of Gujarat talks about the scam when Narendra Modi was Chief Minister. It blows the lid off on his tall claims. We have been demanding probe by a sitting judge or a judicial commission but the BJP Government is doing nothing in order to brush everything under the carpet,” said the leader.
Ajoy Kumar named firm Geo Global Resources Inc with its original capital of `3,000 which later joint ventured with State PSU Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) for gas exploration. It was claimed that the PSU has struck 20 Trillion cubic feet of gas reserves Krishna Godavari (KG) block. But recoverable reserves have proved to just one-tenth of that and GSPC’s borrowings shot up to `19,716.27 crore as of March 31, 2015, according to CAG report and painted a gloomy picture of GSPC’s finance.
“Geo Global Resources Inc, a company based at Barbados near Panama, had no experience in their field but got 10 per cent share without investing anything. This made its share jump by 15 lakh times. Is this the Gujarat model of development of Narendra Modi,” asked the leader. He also rapped Ujjwala scheme for lPG connection for BPl families terming it as eyewash and claimed poor show by skill development programme run by the Centre.
