Sounding a fresh poll bugle for the Assembly elections, Prime Minster Narendra Modi on Friday generated enough heat to raise dust bowl in mid winter on the Palamau bad land. On the occasion, the tallest leader of the BJP talked development, the much needed pill for Jharkhand.
Addressing a massive gathering crossing over 1.5 lakh, who came pouring from as many as six constituencies falling in the region, Modi also hit hard on corrupt practices and unabated loot for the prevailing sluggishness. “Australia and Jharkhand are similar in terms of resources but you can see the difference. Due to corruption and nepotism your dreams have been broken. I appeal to you to free Jharkhand from the shackles of baap-bete ki sarkar and pariwarvaad,” he said, hinting at “father-son” Government of Shibu Soren-Hemant Soren and blamed the Congress for working in collusion with the JMM.
“If they (JMM-Congress) are in power, their families will be happy but nothing good will happen for people,” the PM said.
He went ahead naming and shaming the political brass for looting the State and pleaded the people to give him a chance to serve them. “I have to serve the State and for that provide me a chance. My Government has already started working at the national front and things which could not happen in last 60 years, have happened in 60 days,” he said talking about Jan Dhan Yojna and work started for interlinking of the rivers for the benefit of farmers. He also reiterated that new mining policy would have sufficient share of royalty for the State which would do wonders.
Modi on the occasion also expressed confidence for the victory of the BJP in the polls. “I also have a complaint to make. When I visited here for lok Sabha polls and when I was one of the candidates you did not come even in half number what you have come today! What does it meanIJ It clearly shows which direction is wind is blowing,” added Modi.
BJP candidates from Daltonganj, Garhwa, Bhawanathpur, Hussainabad, Chattarpur and Bishrampur were present along with BJP top leaders Arjun Munda, Raghubar Das, Vinod Pandey and Cabinet Minister Niranjan Jyoti.
Modi also lambasted the JMM government for stalling the Union ministers’ programme in Jharkhand following the alleged hoot out of Chief Minister Hemant Soren at a meeting addressed by the Prime Minister some time back.
“Jharkhand government did not want Modi’s ministers to come because they knew they would expose their misdeeds,” he said and added that those drunk on power must know there is no place for arrogance in a democracy.
Modi said that he had spoken to Japan’s Nobel Prize winning scientist to find treatment for sickle cell anemia disease afflicting adivasi families.
He also promised many for the region, which is otherwise in distress in the want of development. The PM mentioned about non-starter power plant at Bhawnathpur and closed cement factory at Rehla. “I have to change the status quo here. And for that you all have to rise over the differences of caste, religion and be filled with the colour of development,” he in his nearly 45 minute speech said.
He said that he needed their blessings to change Jharkhand’s destiny. “India is progressing at a rapid pace, Jharkhand cannot lag behind,” he added.
The Modi mania was so that people leaving their vehicles walked like a sea of humanity for more than five kilometers. Most of those who attended the programme belonged to younger generation who are struggling to get things changed for their benefits. At the rally place, all the barricades were floored by the advancing crowd.
“I think the most important factor in the election is a kind of unanimity both at the Centre and State. We are fed up with the situation here and this has to be changed. We are not looking at the candidate but just Modi wave is there,” said Shailendra Kumar coming all along from Garhwa where former JVM MlA Satyendra Tiwari is the BJP candidate.
later, the Prime Minister addressed a huge gathering at Chandwa in latehar and called upon Maoists to shun gun and join the mainstream to be equal partners in progress.
