Modi warns people against ‘shortcut’ politics

Published on:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today termed “shortcut politics” as a challenge for the country, urging people to be cautious and avoid falling in trap of those who make false promises. Modi, who was in Deoghar (Jharkhand), addressing a rally at Deoghar college ground said, “It is easy to fetch votes through shortcuts, but shortcut politics can destroy the country. It is easy to get votes by making tempting promises, adopting shortcuts. But those who make such a shortcut will never build airports, highways, AIIMS and medical colleges and other infrastructural projects.”

Though Modi didn't name any political parties, he was referring to political parties which have come to power riding on making such tempting announcements.  Modi further said, “Shortcuts doesn’t require hard work, but such shortcut politics has far reaching consequences as countries that fall in trap of such shortcut politics end up getting short-circuited.”

Without naming Sri Lanka which is facing the biggest economic crisis since its Independence due to Rajapaksa’s government wrong policies, Modi said that in India we have to stay away from politics that take such shortcuts.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi visited Baba Baidyanath dham temple, one of the 12 Jyotilingas and offered prayers. Modi is the first Prime Minister to visit Baba Baidyanath Dham. In Deoghar, Modi also participated in an 11.5 km roadshow which passed through major roundabouts of the City. People on both sides of roads were seen welcoming the Prime Minister. Followed by puja at Baba Baidyanath dham and road show, Modi addressed a huge rally at Deoghar College ground.

The Prime Minister during his address highlighted the work carried out by his government mentioning the inauguration of new airport and AIIMS at Deoghar.

He said, “It is a matter of pride for me that the project for which I had laid the foundation stone today I am inaugurating. Earlier, such projects used to take a lot of time for its completion. But now the focus is on early completion of such projects as delaying the projects leads to escalation of project cost.”

Prime Minister Modi had laid the foundation stone of AIIMS and Deoghar Airport on May 25, 2018. The Deoghar airport built up at an area of 657 acre has a 2,500 metre long runway which can handle the landing and takeoff of Airbus A320 has been built at the estimated cost of Rs 401 crore. The Prime Minister on the occasion also flagged off the Deoghar-Kolkata IndiGo flight from the new airport.

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia who too was present on the occasion said that the airport will be linked to Ranchi, Patna and Delhi in days to come.

Modi at the rally also thanked the people of State for dedicating their support to him and enlisted the ways his party has reciprocated for it. He said, “I got the chance to worship at Baba Baidyanath. Before that schemes worth thousands of crores of rupees were also offered at the feet of Baba and Janta Janardan for the development of Jharkhand.”

The rally was also attended by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union tribal affairs minister Arjun Minister, Minister of State Education Annapurna Devi, BJP state president Deepak Prakash, BJP legislative party leader Babulal Marandi, Godda MP Nishikant Dubey among others.
