BJP president Rajnath Singh on Friday said that Narendra Modi was projected as a prime ministerial candidate not because he happened to be a member of the party, but for his definite vision which will make India a strong nation in all respects.
During a whirlwind tour of the State during which he addressed impressive election rallies in Dhanbad, Giridih and Ranchi, Singh exuded confidence that the party will get more than 250 seats.
“Earlier, national and international agencies had predicted that the BJP will get 225 seats but after conclusion of the three out of the nine
phases of lok Sabha elections they are compelled to announce that BJP will win more than 250 seats,” he said.
Singh appealed to the electorates to vote and support the BJP not only to get an effective administration but also for the country’s holistic development which remains stuck for a long time.
"Now people of the country are fed-up with the UPA government and want change. The wind is strongly in favour of Modi and people have made up their mind to provide him an opportunity” he added.
Addressing the electorates, Singh promised IIT status to the ISM, Dhanbad and an AIIMS like hospital in the country’s coal capital.
Strongly batting for BJP’s Ram Tahal Chuadhary in Sill, the constituency represented by AJSU party chief Sudesh Mahto, the BJP chief promised to give loan to the youth at a nominal interest of 4-5 percent if the party was voted to power.
He also appealed to the voters not to be affected by the caste and religious factors and vote for Chaudhary. “Ram Tahalji is the cleanest of all the candidates in the fray in Ranchi. He will be a MP of the ruling dispensation and can do for the constituency more than what others can do,” he maintained.
Making a scathing attack against the UPA, Singh accused both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of being equally guilty of all problems facing the country because they exercised authority
without accountability during the last 10 years.
Seeking vote for Ravindra Kumar Panday in Giridih constituency, the BJP president said the UPA government is a failure on all fronts. “The legacy of UPA for a great country like India is suffering India, insecure India, distressed India, depressed India and an India whose image stands tainted because of the shameless saga of scams and corruption. The Central Government will be remembered as the most corrupt government after Independence,” he added.
Singh raked up the beheading of an Indian soldier. “Our soldiers were killed and beheaded by the Pakistan Army. The Defence Minister gave a statement in Parliament that the act was committed by those who came in Pakistani uniform. The Minister’s statement helped the Pakistani army and triggered dances in that that country while our soldiers were unhappy,” Singh alleged.
Singh also accused the Congress of ignoring Muslims, saying the community had largely remained poor despite decades of the Congress rule. He claimed that the Muslims are far better off in Gujarat and blamed those practicing vote bank politics for the plight of the community.
He also targeted the UPA government for ruining the economy and posed questions to them on price rise, economy growth and job fronts. “The Centre has failed to check corruption and inflation and people do not want to see it in power again. They want Modi as the next Prime Minister of the country,” he said.
The BJP chief also said that the state, which was carved out of Bihar in 2000, had not been able to develop due to various challenges.
The coalition compulsion has been a major reason for it, he added.
