PM Narendra Modi makes a reference about Chaiwallahs in most of the speeches he makes. Whether it’s in Japan or his address to the nation from the Red Fort the PM never forgets the tea vendors. The BJP has also conducted Chai Pe Charcha programme when the PM was fighting his race to Delhi.
Talking to some tea sellers across the city The Pioneer tried to collect their views about the PM and how they relate to a PM who used to be a tea seller in the past. Whether they look forward to good days for themselves in near future or they think it’s yet another political gimmick to use their status and get benefit of public sentiments.
Kishor Nayak: At Nagar Nigam office “We see Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a tea seller who became the PM of India. We do have a lot of expectations from him but at the same time we want to give the ample time to meet his promises.”Murlidhar Mahto: At lalpur Chowk “We connect to Modi and believe that he will bring development which Manmohan Singh was unable to do. He only made promises for 10 years but was unable to fulfill them. We experience the real change when we visit the government offices where we get more respect now then we used to get before a tea seller Modi became the PM of the nation.”
Murari Bhagat: At Kutchery Chowk “We came to know who Narendra Modi exactly is when he came to Ranchi and shared his story. We believe in him, he will do something for the development of the needy people like us as he comes from the same background.”lalan: At Kanke Road“From the very time we took part in the Chai Pe Charcha programme our expectations from Modi were very high. We just need to give him adequate time. His Chai Wala status was made his vote bank by Congress, not him and now other leaders are trying to cash in stories of their struggle period.”
Ashik Ansari: At Chandni Chowk, Kanke Road “The fact that Modi had been a tea seller increased our interest as well as hopes from him. We want BJP to make government in Jharkhand and will cast our vote in their favor only. We believe that Modi’s Jan- Dhan yojna will help us and our family in our future.”
