It was more than a health check up of the cops here in Daltonganj police line ground today where a team of around a dozen doctors, emergency medicine doctor and paramedics of a reputed super speciality hospital Mahavir Medica Ranchi had come.
The team conducted a mock CPR first. The CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) was done on a mannequin. It was for the benefit of the cops in general.
SP Palamu Reeshma Ramesan said "Police are the first to reach accident sites be it state highway or national highway. Here police find lives in extreme danger because of the impact of the accident."
"Here if our cops know the delicate handling of the CPR, we believe a couple of lives are secured. The mock CPR on a mannequin today was demonstrative in the sense to enable the cops that their first hand expertise in the CPR can save lives," said the SP.
Sitting on the other side was SDPO Chhaterpur Ajay Kumar who narrated how CPR had saved a cop in Hussainabad otherwise the cop could have been a part of eternity.
A member of the medical team said "Cops have complaints about hypertension and diabetes. These symptoms are 30 percent right now. And where there is hypertension and diabetes, the cardiac issue can't be any far away."
SP Reeshma Ramesan termed it as a lifestyle disease. She said our police work 24x7. They miss food and keep long long hours without eating. Their sleep pattern is different. All these stresses take a toll on health, she reiterated.
"SP, SDPO etc have the luxury of food of choice and that too in time but for the constabulary it's a huge problem. The constabulary is to depend on the mess." added the SP.
The first health check up camp was held in the Pdt Deendayal Upadhyay Smriti Bhavan with the team of the MMCH Daltonganj while the second health check up team was held in the police line ground Daltonganj today.
