In an initiative to disseminate knowledge through books, in those parts where people have an inclination for reading but no scope, the Education department is all set to launch mobile library for students of Government-aided schools in rural areas.
The concept is to develop students’ reading as well as writing skills in a way filled with fun and frolic. The archive of the library will have collection of more than 500 books of all interest to hold the children to their seats.
District Superintendent of Education (DSE), Ranchi Jayant Kumar Mishra throwing light on the plan said, “The basic idea is of overall development of the students. Kids of rural areas in absence of facility fail to compete with students of urban areas. To bring uniformity among all and enhance the kids hidden talent the plan has been thought about.”
To start with, as many as 10 Anganwadi centers and primary schools of Kanke area have been selected to halt the book wheels. The selected areas are- Primary School at Banhora, Batta, Husar, Hochar, Sangrampur, Murum, Anganwadi Center at Khatanga, Roley, Akemba, and Secondary School at Hochar. The department has also approached a private firm for the help.
“All the preparations have been done to bring the plan into action after reopening of the schools from a month long summer vacation the vans will be flagged off. The archive has been made keeping in mind the taste and preferences of the children,” added Mishra.
Besides, books, the library will be filled with an assortment of playing articles. Cricket, football, hockey, badminton, carrom, ludo and so on, children can pick up any article of their choice after class.
“For overall development of a child’s mental as well as physical growth it is essential. The library is to steal leisure hours for the students from their hectic life,” said Mishra.
The students after their class can spend atleast three to four hours here. The van will arrive outside the school gate in the afternoon ten minutes before the school’s final bell. Not only children but their parents can also use the library.
“Students’ regular studies will not be affected due to this mobile library. The department has taken full care of it,” commented Mishra.
However, responding to query about the plan of introducing such library for the Ranchi students he added, “The plan as pilot project will be launched in rural areas. If it gains popularity the same will be introduced here.”
