A Teertiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) sub zonal commander was caught by bodyguards of Daltonganj Congress MlA KN Tripathi at Nawadeeh in Chainpur block on Wednesday. The TPC man was later identified as Ajay who was carrying with him an AK 47. He was subsequently handed over to the police along with the arms.
Palamu SP Narendra K Singh has confirmed the incident. "He is now under police custody. One AK 47 has been recovered from him," he said. The TPC sub zonal commander has 13 cases pending against him. Tripathi later said that it was Ajay who had warned him of dire consequences if he went to Nawadeeh. "But on Wednesday I went to Nawadeeh where this incident occurred," he said, adding he had duly intimated the SP about the warning weeks ago.
The MlA said the TPC men would have posed serious risk to his life had his security people not been vigilant and active. He explained his security men chased and caught Ajay who was later given in to the police. The SP had no doubt that the TPC cadre had issued threat to the MlA as call details proved it, said Tripathi. In a separate incident, another ultra Dhaneshwar has been caught with AK 47 looted.
