MlA fund finally released

Published on:

The Government on Friday issued a letter to all DCs of the districts to release funds under MlAlAD scheme and Chief Minister Development Scheme amounting Rs 3 crore with immediate effect.

“I had a meeting with Secretaries of Rural Development and Finance and based on that the letter has been issued on February 22. DCs have been ordered to release the fund onetime in advance. A copy of the release should be sent to PAG,” said Finance Minister Rajendra Singh.

The order has apparently been issued ignoring the set rules in this regard. As per norms, the fund is to be released only after the DC Bill is submitted by the district officials against the work recommended and done. MlAs have been citing delay in making available the bills which, they complained, was affecting the works undertaken under the scheme in their respective areas.

When asked, BJP Raghuvar Das admitted the lapse. “It is correct that appropriate checks and balances should be there. But why an MlA should be penalised when an erring Government official does not submit the desired document or reportIJ” The MlAs got another boost in the form of over 25 new hospitals identified for their treatment. Top hospitals like Medanta, Narayan Hidrayalya, Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital and Rani Children Hospital have been included into the list.
