AK Singh, a contractor by profession, was taken into police custody at Ramgarh few days back. Despite repeated requests made by Singh and his family members to cross the person they were looking for, the police kept him for over 24 hours into custody.
Ramgarh police, looking for a person who had collected over Rs32 lakh from several people in the name of giving jobs to them, had called up Singh for identification purpose. Singh unaware of the case went to Ramgah Police Station on Friday and was detained by them after some of the victims started demanding his arrest identifying him as the culprit AK Singh. Police, influenced by the pressure mounted on them kept Singh into custody despite claims made by him that he was not the culprit. Finally, the police let him go in the midnight on Saturday after harassing him and his family members only after arresting the original culprit.
