Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra has accused the BJP for maligning his image and said that his opponents were trying to browbeat through the Enforcement Directorate raid.

On Friday, the ED carried out raids against Pankaj Mishra and his associates at as many as 20 locations in Sahibganj district in connection with a tender scam. The ED seized Rs 5.32 Crore cash and various other documents during the raid. Huge cash was recovered from the residence of Hira Bhagat who is the relative of a Bihar BJP leader. The ED suspects the said amount was generated through illegal mining and it may be linked to Pankaj Mishra.

Meanwhile, the ED has summoned all of them to appear before ED to record their statement. Pankaj Mishra was at Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand when the raid was carried when the ED called him for questioning. He was later on left.

Pankaj Mishra who later on reached his hometown on Saturday met his party workers and said that the JMM would fight against the BJP and its conspiracy to malign his image as well as the Hemant Soren government.

“If you want to arrest me do it I am not afraid. The ED left me at 8 PM after which I came to Delhi and took the flight to reach Sahibganj. I came because of the reason that rumours were spread in the media about my arresting. I was under treatment and in the mid of the treatment I returned so that my party workers are not disappointed and rivals become emboldened,” he said.

Pankaj Mishra alleged that the ED officials during the raid also broke open the lock of the party office.
