Mirchaiya Falls in PTR remains dry despite rainfall

Published on:

Was the Monsoon rain in the month of June partial to the Falls in the tiger reserve Palamu? The Mirchaiya Falls in PTR remained dry. There is not even a drop of water till this report is filed on June 30.

Deputy director South division of PTR Mukesh Kumar said we know our Mirchaiya Falls continues to remain all dry this June when rains were around.

He said he does not see it as any abnormality. Mirchaiya Falls went dry this summer in the last week of March itself. The summer was intense then.

Mukesh Kumar said there were rains this June in the contiguity of the Mirchaiya Falls but it just could not revive this Falls.

He said it is no matter of concern, rather he said he feels relieved that all the rains that lashed at this June were overwhelmingly detained, retained and absorbed by our jungles and did not allow rain water to revive the Falls.

The continued drying of the Mirchaiya Falls indicates rain water was well consumed by our forests, he asserted.

However the June Monsoon rains revived the Lodh Falls like anything. This Lodh Falls is in its all water fury.

Mukesh Kumar said the dichotomy of Nature is well reflected in the Falls of the PTR. One a total dry. The other in water splendour.
