Officials not paying heed to even cases referred by Janta Darbar will have to face the heat now. Revenue, Registration, land Reforms and Sports Minister Amar Kumar Bauri on Wednesday warned officials who are indifferent to such cases, saying that either they wake up and resolve pending cases on a priority basis or face stern action.
The Minister, who also holds important portfolios like Tourism, Art and Culture and Youth Affairs, said during a Janta Darbar that decline in inflow of cases was widely visible. However, it could have further reduced had some officials not been so negligent towards cases sent from here to them.
Furnishing a case of one Vivek Kumar (14) from Kodarma, Bauri said that he would request the Chief Minister to include diseases like Thalassemia in the list of chronic diseases so that kids suffering from the life-threatening disease could be helped in a better way. Vivek is suffering from Thalassemia and needs fresh blood to be transfused every fortnight and only a bone-marrow transplant can save him.
His father Niranjan Kumar said that a suitable bone marrow was said to be available in Kokila Ben Hospital in Mumbai at a hefty cost of Rs 18 lakh, which he couldn't even imagine to pay for. Bauri assured him of as much help as the Government could offer. However, expressing his helplessness he said that a maximum of Rs 4 lakh could be sanctioned to him under the present guidelines of expenditure from the Chief Minister's critical diseases relief scheme. But he hoped that NGOs and other philanthropists would also come forward to save his life.
One Sheelwanti Devi from Deepatoli, Ranchi, came up with a case of his son Abhishek (14) gone missing since June 27 this year. She accused the police of sheer negligence in getting her only son back. The Minister called the SSP and ordered to constitute an SIT to probe the matter.
Bauri appeared very much upset to know the case of Sullennisha, whose son Irshad Ansari was murdered for petty local political reason on June 19 and her husband Rajuddin Ansari was stabbed twice when he came in defence of his son. She lodged an FIR against three local musclemen but none of them has been arrested so far. Bauri ordered the arrest of all accused within 24 hours and to transfer local Pithoria Police Station in-charge after investigation.
Reacting on the performance of the Indian squad in Rio Olympics, Bauri said that there was an immediate need of increasing sports budget by the State Governments including Jharkhand. He said that the Government not having much say in sports associations was also a major problem.
The Minister furnished 98 cases, majority of which were related to police getting cozy to one party, resulting in either no action or delayed action in cases. However, rising number of land grabbing cases remain a major area of concern. Forgery, domestic violence and other cases also appeared as usual.
Unlike in the past, a steep decline in cases pending in the courts was noticed. Notably, the Ministers looking after cases in Janta Darbar earlier had kept suggesting complainants not to come to Janta Darbar with cases pending in the courts, as it wouldn't hear such cases.
