Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karyakarta Darbar met with an all-time low participation of complainants on Wednesday, leaving Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi with no other option but to leave almost deserted ‘Darbar’ in less than one hour.
The Minister, however, defended the practice, saying that it had been serving its purposes well enough, and that festivals like Summer Navratra and Sarhul must have been the reason of ‘expectedly’ low-footfall for the day.
The Minister who also holds Medical Education and Family Welfare portfolios with him addressed to some seven complainants, mostly from the capital itself, before he left BJP office where Karyakarta Darbar is being organised from February 20. Chandravanshi assured Mansha Devi, a resident of Kishoreganj of free treatment to her ailing husband in RIMS once she got a Below Poverty line (BPl) Card or Ration Card acquired from local authorities. He, however, wrote to RIMS Director to look into the matter, and also asked her to visit RIMS on Wednesday afternoon, when he was also supposed to be there.
“This is first day of Chaitra Navratra, and also Sarhul is being celebrated everywhere in Jharkhand. Then, a Bandh has also been called by Maoists today. All these might have combined together to keep Karyakarta away from Darbar. Yet again, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has also asked officials to expedite people’s problems at local level itself, which has resulted in lesser footfall here in Darbar. However, I am sure we will see Karyakartas pouring in like any other days from next time,” said Chandravanshi.
He also defended practices like Darbar saying that this still remained the only hope for thousands, deprived and dejected from everywhere else. In Darbar, he assured one another complainant of help of up to `5 lakh from Government, who had come to seek some help for her hospitalized husband. The Minister asked her to come up with estimates from Tata Memorial Hospital (Mumbai) where her husband was under treatment for some time.
Amid low participations, few cases coming in Darbar keep showing that despite Government’s all efforts, few departments and officials have not been able to stand to the expectations of common people. One such case was so apparent in Wednesday’s Karyakarta Darbar where one Saryu Prasad from Dhurwa came to see Chandravanshi to get his issue solved.
“I have been running from pillar to post to acquire a domicile certificate of my daughters Priti Kumari and Anuradha Gupta for two months. I had applied for certificates in one Pragya Kendra on January 6 and the documents are still pending on the SDO’s table as of now with no clue about how much more time they are going to take. With last date for submitting application form for teachers’ recruitments ending on March 31, both of my daughters’ fate is at stake,” said Saryu Prasad on Wednesday, who also claimed to be a Jansangh worker joining in the organisation way back in 1962.
