Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Mithilesh Kumar Thakur on Sunday inaugurated a newly-constructed police station building in Meral block.
The newly-constructed Meral Thana Bhawan was inaugurated in the presence of Palamu MP VD Ram, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Pathak and Superintendent of Police Anjani Kumar Jha.
On this occasion, the minister said that the state government is continuously working in the field of police modernization, as a result of which the rate of crime has come down in some areas. He has spoken of making continuous efforts to eliminate Left Wing Extremism and make Jharkhand a crime free state on a number of occasions in the past.
On Sunday, Thakur said that it is very important to have the trust of the general public in the police administration. The time has come when any common citizen can boldly place his cases before the police without any fear.
“This is a good thing, it can be made better by improving the working style. If this happens, then the effort of police modernization will be worthwhile,” he said.
Palamu MP VD Ram said that after the construction of beautiful and convenient buildings, the purpose of making it convenient can be fulfilled only by bringing ease and flow in the working style. He said that the police personnel should keep friendly behaviour with the general public so that the trust of the common people is maintained in the police administration. He said that if the performance of any police station or policeman is good, then under the Modernization Scheme, monetary awards are given to them.
The Deputy Commissioner said that with the tireless efforts of the State Government and the District Administration, under the Modernization Scheme, work is being done to re-construct and make various police stations more public-friendly.
The SP informed that this police station building is equipped with modern facilities, in which there is a provision of CCTV cameras, purpose wise various rooms and women help desk etc. The SP said that due to the presence of a women's desk, the cases related to crimes against women will be handled easily and conveniently.
