The NTPC Pakri Barwadih coal mining project started a training programme for women of the affected areas to make them self-dependent. This is the fourth training programme organised by NTPC in which 30 women are taking part.
NTPC has tied up with Jharcraft to train these women in embroidery and making jute items. This will be a six-month-long programme in which the NTPC will first provide training of stitching and cutting to the women and after that the trainers of Jharcraft will come.
NTPC has trained about 100 women earlier and is aiming to train another hundred more women this year. After successful completion of the training period, NTPC will give sewing machines to the women. GM PK Upadhyay inaugurated the training programme at Pakri Barwadih village. In the inaugural programme, a large number of villagers and NTPC officers were present.
