Sensation gripped Birsanagar locality of the city as a middle-aged woman was found lying murdered at Zone No 1-B under Birsanagar police station on Tuesday morning. The victim was identified as Sunita Shandil (40), a widow.
The police suspected the murder was result of an illicit relationship of Sunita with a man identified as Kanhaiya Ram. Kanhaiya, who is a resident of Zone No 5 is absconding. In this connection, the police have registered a case of murder against Kanhaiya on the basis of an FIR lodged by the victim's daughter Rani Sandil.
According to police, Sunita's husband died 18 years ago in a road mishap, following which she used to stay with her daughter, Rani. But during this period, Sunita had developed relationship with Kanhaiya and would stay with him in a living-in relation.
A year ago Rani was married but due to dispute with her husband she returned to her mother's place and would stay with her at the latter's house at Zone No 3. After the daughter had returned home, Sunita had stopped visiting Kanhaiya's house and would stay with her daughter.
When contacted, officer-in-charge, Birsanagar police station, Naveen Kumar said they were investigating the incident however as per the initial probe they have found that last evening Kanhaiya had visited Sunita's house and taken her along to the Telco market. After which she did not return to her house.
"As per our findings it seems that Kanhaiya murdered Sunita somewhere else and dropped the body at a place near the government primary school," said Kumar.
The police have recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
