MGNREGA plays crucial role in strengthening rural economy: CM

Published on:

The state government has special emphasis on strengthening the rural economy. In this context, the schemes related to MGNREGA are very important for Jharkhand. There should be strong monitoring to maintain transparency in these schemes,” said Chief Minister Hemant Soren while presiding over the meeting of the Jharkhand State Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme today. He directed the officers to hold Jharkhand State Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme meeting every three months under the chairmanship of the Vice President, so that all the schemes can be reviewed regularly and in detail.

The CM said that in order to maintain transparency and quality in the implementation of schemes related to MGNREGA, the accountability of the beneficiaries should also be fixed. This will also help in completing the schemes within the stipulated time frame and the beneficiaries will get rid of middlemen.

The CM said that many schemes are being run by the state government under MNREGA. In such a situation, there is no dearth of labourers. He asked the officials to inform the villagers about these schemes and take initiative to connect them with these schemes. This will increase their income and there will be rapid development of the village.

Soren said that there is a provision of grant-in-aid under social security for the labourers under MGNREGA. In such a situation, the villagers should be aware of this, so ensure that the schemes related to social security are widely disseminated.

He told the officers that the state, especially in the hilly areas, has numerous chuans and small springs. Create a project for geo-mapping of all these so that their water capacity can be increased and used properly.

In the light of the merger of DRDA with Panchayati Raj Department, the Chief Minister gave his consent to the proposal to give the responsibility of District Program Coordinator under MGNREGA to the Deputy Commissioners of the districts. The CM said that there should be regular social audit of the schemes running in Panchayats under MGNREGA. This will curb disturbances and negligence in the schemes. At the same time, action can also be taken against the culprits.

The CM said that trees should be planted around the playgrounds being developed under the Veer Shaheed Poto Ho Sports Development Scheme. He directed the officers to work in mission mode so that maximum number of eligible beneficiaries could get forest lease. He also asked to speed up the campaign to plant more and more fruit trees under the Birsa Green Village Scheme. Under this, plant fruit trees on the vacant lands in the village, so that along with increasing the income of the beneficiaries, environmental protection is also strengthened.

On this occasion, the CM spoke to the headmen, Zila Parishad members and other public representatives from different districts. They apprised the CM about the problems being faced in the implementation and operation of schemes related to MGNREGA. He directed the officers to take appropriate steps in this direction.
