As the mercury level dips, there is a sudden change in temperature, the denizens in the state capital may also experience cold waves in the coming next two days, apart cloudy sky and fall in temperature. The MET department has also issued cold wave warning for the residents. The sudden change in weather is the result of Westerly wind along with the Western Disturbances (WD) and upper air circulation in Southern Madhya Pradesh.

Citing details about the present weather condition, Forecast Officer of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi, Upendra Srivastava, informed, “There is a sudden fall in temperature which will lead to cold waves at isolated places in Jharkhand in the coming two days. The weather condition will slightly improve bringing change in temperature only after January 28 and finally temperature will get back to its normal condition.”

Mentioning about the primary cause in sudden temperature fall, Srivastava, further added, “Due to WD and upper air circulation in Southern Madhya Pradesh is affecting the present scenario and climatic condition in Jharkhand. Moreover, States like Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, including hilly terrain are witnessing snowfall, which is also a major cause in temperature variation and is influencing the temperature in state. The variation in climate will not remain for the longer period and soon the weather condition will come into its normal pace.”

On January 23, season’s lowest temperature was recorded in the state capital. In the coming days too denizens will have too bear the temperature variation. Moreover, the temperature variation always leads to major health issues especially among the infants and senior citizens.

“People suffering from asthma, arthritis, joint pains, cardiac problems and other respiratory problems must be extra careful during this temperature variation. It is mandatory to regularly consult the general physicians, if an individual is suffering even from minor viral fever, cough, cold and joint pain,” said Dr. Kiran, General Physician of Sadar Hospital.

“It is always advisable for the denizens especially for senior citizens to avoid morning and evening walks during the cold waves. It also worth mentioning that people should avoid eating at the food joints, as there is a greater chance of getting infected with diseases as body quickly looses immunity to fight the diseases during temperature variation,” added Dr Kiran.
