President, Bokaro Steel Officers Association and former Secretary General, SAFI, AK Singh, addressed the Press regarding the recent decision and wage revision by SAIL Management regarding Raw Material Division (RMD) and employees working welfare.
AK Singh said the Mines and collieries will be operated in a better way with the decision to split the RMD of SAIL based in Kolkata simultaneously merger of SAIL’s mines and colliery falling in Jharkhand region with Bokaro Steel Plant and merger of SAIL’s mines and colliery in Odisha region with Rourkela Steel Plant. Also for the operation of mines and colliery, SAIL management is required to maintain coordination with the concerned Government so it is convenient to get desired forest clearance for mining, lease renewal etc in time.
He said there was difficulty in its smooth implementation hence with the merger of SAIL’s mines and colliery located in State with Bokaro Steel Plant, consequently the director-in-charge of plant will have better control over them from the administrative point of view, as well as facilitate coordination with the State Government.
Direct coordination with the steel plant will improve the quality and supply of raw materials. Later, it will also help in the development and expansion of SAIL’s mines and colliery. The production, planning and distribution of raw material in the mines will be decided by the Corporate Office itself, in which the requirements of all the plants would be taken care uniformly.
Singh added decision will also help in reducing the expenditure of SAIL’s RMD headquarters in Kolkata. This is an administrative decision which comes under the purview of SAIL Management. Bokaro Steel Officers Association says that the personnel who are scared of this decision need to be taken care. Also Singh refuted the statement made in the press by SAFI Secretary General Bimal Kumar that this decision will save SAIL Rs 50 crore annually. It is wrong to spread misleading propaganda by giving such wrong data. At last Singh appealed the promptness with which the management has taken such a quick decision on the allocation of Mines, in the same way we expect that the decision on Pay Revision should also be taken without delay as it is not in the interest of the company to delay.
