Western Disturbances (WD) and cyclonic circulation in Bay of Bengal, including few parts of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have resulted in sudden plunge in the mercury level. The sudden weather change has resulted in decrease in temperature. Denizens in the State capital may observe fall in temperature in the coming days too.
On December 15, the temperature was recorded 10 degree celsius whereas on Wednesday the Met department recorded the temperature of 7 degrees Celsius.
Citing details about the sudden change in weather condition, Forecast officer of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi, Upendra Srivastav said, “In the coming days, the temperature will drop and definitely the cold waves will increase. The minimum temperature recorded will fall in the next two days. Denizens may also witness cloudy sky and drizzles in few areas.”
“The Western disturbance affects day to day weather condition of northwest India, especially during winter season. It is usually associated with cloudy sky, higher night temperatures and unusual rainfall. On the other hand, cyclonic circulation in Bay of Bengal results in cold waves in the central and eastern parts of India,” added Srivastav.
“Only after December 22, the weather condition will slightly change, bringing the temperature down,” Srivastav pointed out.
Meanwhile, in view of the weather condition, the district administration has made all essential arrangements, “Blankets have been bought for distribution and handed over to the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC). Distribution of blankets has already been started in different blocks. RMC will also arrange shelter homes for the people during winter season and this time again with the disaster management team the administration will arrange the bonfires for the people. Few locations have been demarcated for the purpose,” said Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar.
This year, winter season has also arrived a little late in comparison to earlier years. As weather condition changes, doctors and other general physicians too recommend few precautionary measures, especially to the children below 10 years and elderly people.
“People suffering from asthma, arthritis, joint pains, cardiac and other respiratory problems must be extra careful during the seasonal changes. It is mandatory to regularly consult the general physicians, if an individual is suffering from viral fever, cough, cold and joint pain,” said Dr. Kiran, General Physician of Sadar Hospital.
