A numbers of medicinal plants displayed by the various forests managements committees attracted a good number of buyers as well as other products like apparel, decorating items, handicraft items etc.

The plants were on display including small caltrops, Andrographis paniculata, Asparagus racemosus, Adhatoda Vasica, Vitaceae, Terminalia Arjuna, Bacopa monnieri, Convolvulus pluricaulis, Hemidesmus Indicus etc.

While displaying some plants and their roots a member of Palamu forest management committee Narish Ansari said, “It is Small caltrops and its utility is to cure skin problems. Another item is Andrographis paniculata and its utility cure Maleria, Helminthic and Liverdisorder. One of the most important plant in this category is Asparagus racemosus is important for breast milk production, digestive stimulative and Leaucorrhoea. All these plants are found in Jharkhand in abundance.”

Secretary (FOWA) Lina Rastogi said, “These participating committees have some of the finest craftsmen and artisans but they are weak in marketing their products. They usually get stuck in the vicious net of the middlemen who buy these products at a very low cost from them and sell it in bigger markets at higher prices. We have tried to bring the producers closer to the big markets through this exhibition.”
