A team of three doctors from the Medical Council of India (MCI) continued their surprise visit to inspect the State-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Saturday in a bid to review the hospital’s infrastructure and faculty strength. After the first day of inspection revealed the several loopholes in the system, the team shifted their focus to the State Dispensary Unit at Doranda and the Ormanjhi Community Health Centre (CHC).

Dr Suresh Kumar, Dr JS Mallik and Dr Radhe Shyam Trivedi reportedly found out the status of both the centers at Doranda and Ormanjhi to be quite above satisfactory.

The MCI officials also checked out the Oncology and Cardiac department on the special request by the senior authorities at RIMS. The team suggested a few changes and procurement of some necessary equipment to make the quality of services on offer here at par with many private establishments in the country.

Dr Suresh Kumar also visited the Emergency ward twice on the second day of inspection and suggested the department to procure mobile X-ray machine, ECG machines and few other necessary machines. The team would be heading back to the national capital on Saturday evening and thereafter release the report on RIMS.

When contacted the Chief Executive Officer and Director of RIMS, he maintained that the hospital or any staff is not authorized to divulge any details of the inspection before it is tabled by the MCI officials. “The inspection concluded for the hospital today. We will have to wait for the final reports to be released,” said Dr Bl Sherwal.
