Breaking the stalemate over Birla Maidaan located in the heart of the State Capital near Indrapuri at Ratu Road, the District legal Services Authority on Friday succeeded in resolving a ‘community dispute’ between Sri Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha’ (GSGNSS), Birla Maidan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti (BMBSS) and Sarna Samiti, Kathal Gonda. Four FIRs had been lodged following a clash over Birla Maidan on February 28, leaving more than 50 persons injured from both sides.

“It took 9 sittings for the three parties to reach a consensus after the case was referred to us by Principal Judicial Commissioner Navneet Kumar while hearing the anticipatory bail application filed by Secretary of Birla Maidaan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti Daroga Singh and his four other aides,” said the mediator, Advocate lK Giri, appointed by DlSA in the case who played an important role in resolving the dispute. Singh has given in writing that he will not create any hurdle to GSGNSS in any work related to Birla Maidaan, said Giri.

“Meanwhile, all the four cases filed by the three parties against each other will be withdrawn for which they will cooperate in getting bails for each other,” said the Advocate. They have also agreed to live with each other with harmony in future, he added.

The claim over Birla Maidan had triggered a clash between two groups when members of ‘Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Satsang Sabha’ (GSGNSS), in a group of about 250 people, tried to raise a boundary wall through ‘Kar Seva’ (Public Service) on February 28. Hundreds of unidentified locals pelted stones leaving more than 50 people injured from both sides.

The dispute was over 286 decimal of land, claimed to be a property of GSGNSS which was said to be registered in the year 1995. The land was also claimed to have got mutation in the name of Sabha.
