Mayor Asha lakra taking stringent action against the company, Essel Infra, engaged in managing solid waste disposal has instructed its officials to immediately speedup the sanitation work. The Mayor issued the instruction a day after the Swachchhta Sarvekshan result-2017 was declared where the State Capital had failed to find its place in the top 100 cleanest cities’ list. lakra said that Essel Infra must take the charge of all the 55 wards by May 31 or at the earliest and ensure cleanliness all around.
Notably, delivering desultory service, the company so far has only taken up the charge of 22 wards. The representative of the company has said that due to human resource crunch, monetary crisis, including land issues in setting up mini transfer stations for segregation of waste products are posing hurdles in delivering the service at par with other organised Municipal Corporations.
So far, the civic body has spent Rs 2.50 crore in cleanliness after the charge was given to Essel Infra. The work of door-to-door waste collection was supposed to be ensured by the company in February 2017 before the Quality Council of India (QCI) initiated assessing the Capital city on different sanitation parameters.
