Mayor Asha lakra ordered measurement to be done of houses constructed near Distillery Pond to check whether any of them is encroaching on the water body. Houses found to be built on the pond are to be demolished, she ordered. Beforehand, she inspected the area following complaints of encroachment.
Some locals met lakra with documents for the land they own, after inspecting which she ordered them to get the paperwork scrutinised by Ranchi Municipal Corporation. Action is to be taken within 24 hours against the defaulters.
