Mayor, Dy Mayor and Chief Engineer hatched nexus: JMM

Published on:

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) attacked the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) for neglecting the areas where people belonging from minority communities live in majority. The party made a big allegation about the functioning of RMC and said that the Mayor Asha Lakra, Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargiya and the Chief Engineer have hatched a nexus.

Addressing a press meet JMM Spokesperson cum General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that a nexus of the above three has been formed in the civic body. In the Board meeting of the civic body, only those proposals of development works pass which clear the final deal among the three.

The JMM's allegation has come when a total of 14 Councillors of the civic body sought help from the State Government, stating that the corporation is neglecting the minority community in passing the schemes. In the past days, the nexus has passed only 38 schemes out of 110 schemes after finalising the deal among them.

A total of 14 ward Councilors, having disturbed by the functioning of the civic body, reached the JMM office on Thursday. During this, the JMM leader held a press conference with the Councilors. In this, everyone made a big allegation on the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor.

The JMM Spokesperson said that all the Councilors have been harassed for the last 5 years due to the result of that is that today they stand against the Mayor, Deputy Mayor. He said that everyone knows how the game of corruption was played in the name of cleanliness in Bada Talab, Sewerage drainage, Harmu River, Distillery pond. He demanded from Chief Minister Hemant Soren to review all the works of the corporation during the last 5 years and at the same time the role of the then Urban Development Minister, CP Singh including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor should be investigated.

Bhattacharya also said that if the demand of these representatives is not accepted, then soon they will meet the CM and keep their talk and demand that they stop the civic body's money and give them directly to the Councilors.

Meanwhile, Mayor Asha Lakra refuted all the allegations made by the JMM and said these are baseless, as the foundation stone of the scheme of about one crore was laid on December 1 in Ward 17, and almost Rs 3 crore amount allocated from the 14th Finance Commission in Ward 10 on December 2.

“The fund was allocated by the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government. The BJP does not favour any caste, religion. The ward situated in Hindpiri region is better today than in previous years. Most of the minority community people have been benefited from the Central and State government. If any other thing is challenged, then its record can also be shown by removing it. The JMM wants to prove the minorities as anti-BJP under a well planned conspiracy. JMM is misleading ward councilors to hide their failures,” said Lakra.
