Maulana Azad research centre to initiate service soon

Maulana Azad Institute of Comparative literature and National Integration for comparative study will soon start its service catering to the need of research scholars, after the completion of few essential requirements. Notably, the project has been lingering since past few years. The varsity has set up the research centre at Morabadi at a whopping cost of Rs1.85 crore. Inaugurated in 2015, the centre is yet not functional.

The research hub comprises three wings, the Maulana Azad Institute of Comparative literature and National Integration on the first floor, language lab on the second and distance education courses centre on third floor. Nevertheless, funds crunch and shortage of resource personnel are two primary reasons which have always grasped the university functioning and hampered the studies of students.

“The building is lying vacant since its inauguration. The study centre will be equipped with all essential services, varsity officials had promised students. Internet services and access to all journals will be made available to carry out research in literature and other subject. But, so far, there has been no indication as to when the centre will start functioning, as of now, nothing has been officially announced,” informed, Swati Prasad, a research scholar.

Similarly, undergraduate students also blamed the university officials for not starting the language lab and other facilities for which the centre was established. “We need a lab to enhance our communication skills, as all other essential requirement will not be fulfilled with our regular degree courses,” said, a final year political science student of Yogda Satsang College.

Moreover, for distance education course Rs25 lakh has been sanctioned by the State Government few years back. The university officials too are trying their best to initiate the service for students as earliest as possible. “The work is in progress and is likely to be completed soon. However, no deadline has been fixed yet. For initiating the distance education centre, the university has been waiting for the University Grant Commission (UGC) fund. The work of language lab has been completed. There are limited staffs; hence we need to manage things accordingly,” stated PK Singh, Co-ordinator College Development Council (CCDC) of Ranchi University.

“The authorities too need to equip the centre with journals and start online facilities. Proposal for it will be tabled soon. However, the Director for the centre has been appointed, Professor M Hussain of Urdu Department will take the charge.
