As Durga Puja has begun scores of people are heading towards their home town from the Capital City. Huge rush can be seen at railway stations and bus depots. Anticipating the crowd during the festive season, railways has already started three special trains for the convenience of public but the timings of the trains is a bit confusing and there is a huge rush at the booking counters.

Resultantly, people who all are unable to get train tickets are now heading towards the bus depots, in order to reach their respective home towns.

“I am travelling with my friends to Dhanbad. There is a huge rush in train, so I was unable to get train tickets. Now, we have to take a bus, however here also the condition is same,” said a B.tech student, Abhinav Nag.

Citing details about the rush in festive season, Mahindra Yadav of Amar Rath bus service asserted, “During the time of Durga puja, every year we have to tackle unexpected crowd. Since the bus fare is comparatively very less as compare to other modes of transportation many passengers prefer taking bus to reach their home town.”

Anticipating heavy rush of passengers during Durga Puja festival, the South Eastern Railways has introduced three special trains from Ranchi to ferry passengers.

“We are mainly running three special puja trains like Ranchi-Jaynagar (Bihar) Express, Hatia to Mumbai and another train from Hatia to Puri (Odisha). like every year this year too we have waiting list and heavy rush in the trains covering the routes like Puri, Patna, Howrah, Gorakhpur and other adjoining areas of Bihar especially from October 16 to October 27. Apart from this, those trains coming from Bengaluru, Pune and Delhi are fully reserved for the festive season,” said Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Ranchi Division, Neeraj Kumar.

On the other hand various tour and travel agencies in the city are receiving orders from the people for booking tickets.

“Approximately, every day I receive 20- 30 orders for booking tickets. Maximum reservation orders are for the adjoining states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha,” said Manoj Kumar of Cyber city and tour and travel private limited.
