BJP candidate from Ranchi parliamentary constituency Ram Tahal Chaudhary on Tuesday launched a frontal attack on his Congress rival Subodh Kant Sahay, accusing him of winning the elections by the influence of money and illegal means. Chaudhary maintained that mass support is his strength which will ensure his victory in the election, adding Sahay will never win.
“For Sahay, I am the only hurdle for winning this seat this time. I have been in the regular touch with the people while he was away in Delhi managing his ministerial berth. Sahay fears that once he loses the seat, he will never be able to retain it,” said Chaudhary, who is locked in a fierce battle with Sahay and JVM nominee Amitabh Chaudhary, a former IPS officer.
According to the BJP candidate, Sahay has been using money power as a tool for winning elections, acquired through various fraudulent means of duping the poor people of the State as well as the Central Government in the name of introducing new projects in Jharkhand.
“Sahay wins elections with the might of money while I win elections on the basis of mass-support which I enjoy in the constituency,” added Chaudhary. Those who acquire money by illegal means can only pump it in the elections to win votes,” he added. “Sahay has already started distributing money in the name of Dusshera and Dipawali among his workers in order to secure votes for him,” alleged Chaudhary, who is likely to file his nomination on March 21.
The former BJP MP, however, is confident that people of Ranchi have seen him working as he has been among the people for the past five years even after losing the 2009 polls. “Despite my winning or losing the seat, I always remain among the people, which is impossible for him (Sahay),” he said.
When questioned over the chances of winning this election on the issue of caste factor, Chaudhary said that elections cannot be won only on the basis of caste factor. “Caste factor will always remain there as one cannot change the topography of a constituency, but only caste factor cannot ensure one’s victory as one will also have to prove him on the ground,” said Chaudhary. I have people’s support with me to win this election and I am going to win this time, claimed the BJP candidate.
Chaudhary seems to be quite excited over Narendra Modi being nominated as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate who, according to him, is a symbol of development who changed the overall scenario for the common man in Gujarat on the basis of his vision. “Unlike others, Modi ji has the power to take decisions and to make it happen on the ground as well,” said Chaudhary. Admiring Modi’s mantra of ‘Har khet ko paani aur har haath ko kaam’ (Water to each field and work to each hand), he said that the Gujarat Model has sent an encouraging message among the people in the country which itself is sufficient for ensuring prime ministerial post for him.
“Modi’s Government will be strong enough to reply effectively to both China and Pakistan,” said. Chaudhary however, will go to the people with the issues of price rise and corruption which rocked both Parliament and also the Assembly in Jharkhand as well. “What the Congress could not do in 50 years, Atal ji did it in merely five years like removing quota system from lPG and other goods of day to day use and introduced several innovative measures like – Kisan Credit Card and Golden Quadrangle,” said Chaurdhary.
He also alleged that the Soren Government in the State is only carrying out the initiatives taken during the Arjun Munda Government. Although, poll campaigning is already on in the constituency, Chaudhary said booth committees of 10-20 people are being formed to be looked after by a supervisor, who will launch door to door campaign and ensure maximum coverage.
