The statement of Chief Minister Hemant Soren against Marwaris in a party function at Chaibasa has irked the community that has decided to stage protest. Jharkhand Prantiya Marwari Sammelan president Raj Kumar Kedia sharing the sentiment condemned the statement.
“CM’s statement is like a blow for the community. To make him realise his mistake we have decided to stage a demonstration against his remark,” said Kedia. He further added, “On March 1, we will conduct a silent march from Shaheed Chowk to the Governor House and will hand over a letter to Governor Syed Ahmad, asking him to take concrete action, against the remark. The community has even threatened to boycott CM’s programme until he apologises for his statement. Over hundred people will participate in the march wearing black bands.”
The community has also asked other parties to extend help in their protest. “The community has played a vital role not only in the development of state but also contributed a lot in the development of the country. The community has always supported the State socially, economically and politically. If we turn back the pages we will find that the community by building dharamsalas, schools and hospitals has always played a pivotal role in state development,” added Kedia.
Echoing him, Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) member Prem Kataruka condemning the statement commented, “It is an insult for the community and we will not sit idle. The community has always made efforts in the direction of overall development of the society.”
